House of Cards star Kevin Spacey has been awarded an honorary knighthood by the UK’s Queen Elizabeth II in Her Majesty’s Birthday Honours List. After serving as Artistic Director of London’s Old Vic theatre for the past 11 years he’s been recognised for his services to British theatre and international culture, and is thankful to the British public making him “feel like an adopted son”. Sadly though, the New Jersey-born star will not be able to officially add ‘Sir’ before his name as the title can only be formally used by citizens of the Commonwealth, so for now he’ll stay ‘President Frank Underwood’ to us.
