A practical yet welcoming family home – that is what Kerry has strived to create in her Springs villa over the past four years. Catering to the practicalities of her two young daughters, yet not wanting them to take over, a beautiful play area and princess bedroom keep the girls’ toys in place. This leaves the rest of the house free for her eclectic collection of furniture.
“We’ve got a real mix of old and new and very different styles, from a leather-topped desk that I and my husband carried away from an antique shop in London some 20 years ago, to one of my prize pieces – my bronze leaf wall-hanging from the Philippines,” says Kerry.
Marina is her favourite home-furnishing store, from which she admits she has bought “far too many beautiful lamps – lighting is vital when it comes to creating a soothing ambience,” she says.
Indeed, the biggest selling point of this house is the light. “We back onto a vast area of grassland and lakes. I’ve purposefully only put very thin voile at the windows so that the house is always swathed in light,” says Kerry.
