Ten years from now... I hope to still be in the UAE, be self-employed and continue my charity work

There’s no denying that the UAE’s sense of community spirit is strong; something that has clearly moulded the mindset of 16-year-old Keenan D’Abreo who was born here. After volunteering to participate in the ‘We Care’ film festival – which educates society about the way they view those with disabilities through a series of films – Keenan was inspired to make a difference to those with special needs through his own artistic talent. As an avid painter, he decided to begin creating artworks to sell for the cause, and was overwhelmed by the response from other artistic teenagers in the region who were eager to get involved by donating their own pieces. Before long, the idea had snowballed, resulting in two Artex exhibitions last year, which raised funds for both the Al Noor Training Centre for Children with Special Needs in Dubai and The Special Care Centre in Abu Dhabi.
