Katy Perry and Kristen Stewart Strike a Pose in Paris
We love how the A-list stylistas really make an effort during Paris Fashion Week. This year, even the ordinarily grungy Kristen Stewart dressed up for this momentous occasion on the catwalk calendar where the who’s who of Hollywood and fashion collide. Naturally, Ahlan! was there to get the inside track on next season’s trends and to pick up style tips from the stars – while we loved K-Stew’s trews and ooh-ed over Mila’s Dior, Katy Perry served as a valuable lesson in what not to wear...
Katy Perry at Viktor & Rolf
There was so much fur on V&R’s runway that we expected to hear narration from David Attenborough. Top celeb guest Katy Perry made the cardinal fashion sin of being way too matchy-matchy, co-ordinating her outfit with her blue ‘do at the show. The flat colour palette left her looking quite tired and washed out, but we loved her blue and white capsule pill purse – very Perry!
Earlier in gay Paris we spotted another fashion no-no on Perry – a see-through pale green number which showed off her nana-pants (too gross to print), but all was forgiven when we glimpsed her in this gold geometric mini with stunning salmon and gold Louboutins. We want!
Kristen Stewart at Balenciaga
Balenciaga’s Nicolas Ghesquiere unveiled a clinical, corporate-wear collection in his signature stiff scuba fabric to the fashion A-list. The most shocking part of his runway show was a rare smile from usually-glum Kristen Stewart. The Twilight hottie ditched her usual jeans and pumps combo, instead slipping into a pair of skin-tight leather trousers and printed blouse. She topped off the look with a flash of her pearly whites. Careful, Kristen, the wind might change and you’ll be stuck looking happy forever!
Mila Kunis at Christian Dior
Though some critics labelled the Dior collection “underwhelming” and have accused designer Bill Gaytten (the guy who took over from disgraced John Galliano post-racial slur) of playing it safe, we loved the wearability of the pieces and can see celebs like Jessica Alba taking the gowns from the runway to the red carpet. Front row at the show was the face of the label, Mila Kunis, who epitomised the ladylike look that Dior does best. Dressed in a soft nude palette in a chic lace dress, peep-toe heels and bracelet length coat, the Friends With Benefits star sat next to Dior’s CEO Sidney Toledano, who linked her arm and held her hand for much of the show, while his wife Katia sat on his other side! That’s clearly how it’s done in fashion, dah-ling!
Jessica and Dita at Lanvin
Lanvin went all out with the unveiling of its A/W 2012 collection. Edgy glamour was amped up with jewels, fur, strong silhouettes, heavy embellishment and bold colours including aqua, violet, canary yellow and tangerine. Lanvin designer Alber Elbaz then took to the stage, clad in his signature black suit and bow-tie, and told his audience, “I’m a terrible singer,” and then launched into song! The party continued with US band Pink Martini entertaining celeb guests such as Jessica Alba and Dita Von Teese.
