Kasabian, Robin Thicke and Jesse Ware to play Dubai's Blended 2015 Festival
News just in - more enormous music names have been confirmed to play in Dubai in the very near future. After last year's successful inaugral Blended festival, the lineup for this year's two-day fest has been confirmed - and it's bring some very tasty names to DXB.
British rockers Kasabian might be the obvious standout, seeing as they're fresh from picking up two awards at the NME awards for Best British Band and Best Rock Album. Headliners at last year's Glastonbury Festival, they're promising a very special show at the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre, with the addition of a string quartet.
The man who dropped one of the most successful tunes of the decade so far - Blurred Lines - has also been confirmed. Yep, Robin Thicke has been confirmed for Blended 2015. Don't peg him as a one-hit wonder, though; he's got five LP's worth of material to draw upon, and will be creating a serious party atmosphere.
How apt that the people who did more than anyone else to popularise the term 'Ladies' Night' - the mighty Kool & The Gang - are coming to town. One of the most sampled bands in history, with a ton of gold and platinum records and a back catalogue rammed with dancefloor classics, they will be dropping hits such as Get Down On It, Celebration and Fresh.
One for the old-school Nineties crowd: the one and only Craig David. During his ten-year career he has sold over 13 million albums, enjoyed 13 Top Ten hits and achieved multi-platinum status in more than 20 countries. One for the new school: Jesse Ware. Her outstanding debut album Devotion turned her into one of 2014’s breakout new artists - and with a style that combines downtempo R&B and British electronic music with the style of Sade and Whitney Houston, she is an unmissible act at Blended.
Completing Friday’s line up are chart newcomers Nico & Vinz. Hailing from Oslo, Norway, Nico Sereba and Vincent Dery, has tapped into the heart of global culture by writing and performing radio-friendly songs such as Am I Wrong and In Your Arms. More artists are to be confirmed down the line, including a seperate venue in the Jazz at Pizza Express garden - and because it's Dubai and we don't do that wallowing-in-a-field nonsense here, there'll be all the upscale food and beverage outlets and The Prominade Boutique marketplace, amongst other attractions. Tickets will be available online at www.blended.ae and at all Virgin Megastores, consider yourself warned not to hang about and book early.
