Louis Vuitton’s vice president Delphine Arnault has called in Chanel's artistic director and Ahlan! fave Karl Lagerfeld to help design a special edition of the signature LV logo for a collection of bags to celebrate their 160th anniversary.
Along with Karl, 80, designers Marc Newson, Christian Louboutin and Rei Kawakubo, photographer Cindy Sherman, and architect Frank Gehry have also been enlisted to collaborate on the collection which will create iconic Louis Vuitton collector’s pieces. The range will be entitled 'The Icon and the Iconoclasts' and will only be available for a few months.
Delphine explained to WWD: "We have assembled an amazing group of talents - geniuses, I would say. Each one is among the best in his or her field. The monogram is at the centre of our house, so we celebrate it every day. But we thought this project was really special because the personalities we chose are fascinating and diverse.""This is a very interesting territory - to have collaborations with exceptional, creative minds. It's a really fun project. It's done with a lot of humour."
