- On a professional level, winning the Montegrappa Writing Prize in the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature for my novel, Dear Michael, was a wonderful achievement in 2016. It was a total shock and a dream come true, as breaking into novel writing and being selected by a reputable agent is notoriously difficult.
I run Travel Ink, which offers written content for the travel, tourism and hospitality sector, anything from web copy to print advertising, and while I may spend my days crafting copy for clients, this was my first novel. I now hope to make a name for myself as an author.
My book’s set in Durham, UK, where I went to university, and is a dark psychological thriller based on a mother’s letters to a prison inmate incarcerated for murder.
I believe the secret to success is to take advantage of every opportunity, because it’s always better to regret something you’ve done than not done.
There are many novelists whose work I admire; I’m a huge fan of Philippa Gregory – her research and love of history is reflected in her novels making them incredible reads.
