Police in New York have confirmed they are investigating Justin Bieber over allegations he instigated a brawl involving members of his entourage outside a nightclub in the Hamptons.
The Baby hitmaker was caught up in an incident at Southampton venue South Pointe over the weekend after reportedly becoming involved in a verbal spat with a fellow clubgoer.
Biebs was marched back to a waiting car by his security guards before the brawl spilled out into the parking lot, and clubber Wayne Rennalls, 22, was later hospitalised and filed a report with police.
Reports suggest Justin was not involved in the alleged violence, but he was pictured climbing out of his car's sunroof and standing on the hood of the vehicle as the brawl flared up.
An onlooker said, "It escalated outside when we heard Bieber yelling and talking s**t... He was screaming in Wayne's direction, 'Punk b****!' Wayne thought somebody threw something at him. Wayne picked up a small rock and threw it back towards Justin. That's when Wayne heard someone yell, 'You done f***** up now.' Justin jumped out the sunroof of his car and slid down the car like he was in (Bruce Willis movie) Die Hard... He dropped his shirt (took his shirt off) and threw his hat (off)... His people surrounded Wayne."
A spokesman for Southampton Police has now confirmed officers are investigating whether Bieber was indirectly involved, by allegedly instigating the fight and directing the members of his entourage.
Sergeant Todd Spencer tells New York Post's Page Six, "That would be part of the investigation, whether Bieber directed them or not."
