Star makes young boy’s dream come true

Rocker Jon Bon Jovi has helped to surprise a 10 year-old young boy with an inoperable brain tumour by making a guest appearance at his pediatric cancer research fundraiser.

Mario Carpino launched a Facebook campaign earlier this year to persuade the Bon Jovi frontman who he had seen sing live two years earlier to attend his lemonade stand fundraiser, which he holds every year in association with Alex’s Lemonade Stand.

He hosted his fourth annual event (and raised over Dhs800,000 for cancer research so far) in Bon Jovi's native New Jersey on Saturday and the 52-year-old singer shocked his young fan by making an unannounced appearance to sign autographs and pose for pictures with Carpino and fans.

Mario's mum, Anna Carpino said, "Little did we know that he would just show up and surprise me. As much as I wanted it to be him, I thought it couldn't happen. I just started breaking down, crying, and shaking. I was a hot mess!" The family initially thought it was an impersonator and had to be convinced that the superstar had actually come there in person.

She later added on her Facebook page, "Thank you Jon for making Mario's dream come true."
