The Sunrise K’ Foundation gets us together against glaucoma

Sunrise K’ is dedicated to funding research for better treatment and hopefully finding a cure for childhood glaucoma. People don’t realise that this eye disease is the second leading cause of blindness worldwide.  Early diagnosis is key to treating it. There is no cure for it at the moment. Up to 25 per cent of children diagnosed with congenital glaucoma will go blind before they reach adulthood.
The foundation has a 10-10-10 goal. To fund a 10-minute advanced surgery technique to achieve an eye pressure of around 10 mmHg that will have lasting effects for 10 years.
Our annual Global Gift Gala in Dubai is supported by several international celebrities. Eva Longoria, Ricky Martin, 50 Cent, Maxwell, Tyrese and Haifa Wehbe are all patrons.
The charity is a very personal passion project. Joanna’s son has bi-monthly eye surgeries at Moorfields Eye Hospital in London and is the inspiration behind this foundation.
Our foundation’s partner ophthalmologist, Professor Sir Peng Khaw, is a leading figure in the glaucoma field. He was knighted by the Queen for his work.
Life can change at any time, for better or worse. It’s important to be thankful for what we have and preserve our energy for life’s important issues.
