JLo reveals why she loves Dubai and which UAE residence may be hers soon

Ahlan! was one of the select few to be invited for an interview with Jennifer Lopez after her epic turn on stage at the Dubai World Cup 2014 at Meydan.

Before the interview, we were kept waiting as Ms Lopez was given a guided tour of Dubai’s new luxury residence in Meydan District One called Meydan Sobha. A mole hinted that ‘Jenny from the Block’ may even be gifted one of these five-star villas by the developers, so don’t be surprised to hear about ‘Jenny from the five-star gated community’ any time soon.

During our interview, Jennifer looked relaxed and was clearly happy with her Meydan show the night before. Boyfriend Casper Smart – who she referred to only as ‘Beau’ – was the Creative Director for the gig and it featured never-before-seen choreography and effects as Jen was keen to bring her UAE fans something new after touring here last year.

“I did my first big world tour back in 2013 – we went everywhere, Paris, Australia, Asia... And I have to be honest with you: Dubai was one of my most memorable shows. It was outside and I don’t know how many thousands of people were there, but it just stuck out in my mind for the energy the audience had,” says Lopez.

Luckily it went without a hitch and afterwards, happy and exhausted, Jennifer and Casper enjoyed room service at the Meydan Hotel.

Before the show began, the I Luh Ya Papi singer came on stage during the famous Dubai World Cup parade after the sky was illuminated with fireworks and a montage of her best videos shown on a huge screen. Deciding on her parade outfit seemed to be the hardest part. “I was like, ‘Should I wear a hat?’ I didn’t know what to do, so I just decided to go with a little white dress and save the sparkly flashy stuff for the stage.”

On stage is Jen’s favourite place to be, after her role at home as “Mom”.

“As far as work goes, acting and singing and performing – what I was doing last night is when I am most in my element. I don’t know why I feel so comfortable in front of that many people. I know that’s strange to the average person, but to share that experience and that energy feels great to me.”
