Jennifer Aniston's Emirates advert receives backlash
As the new brand ambassador for Emirates Airlines, Jennifer Aniston’s hilarious commercial was released earlier this week and immediately went viral, clocking up over 1 million views on YouTube. While we think it’s a brilliant campaign, not everybody shares our sentiments.
There have been many complaints on social media. Some users lashed out at the advert, claiming that they couldn’t afford luxury first-class tickets, and that they could only dream about having a shower in the sky.
YouTube user Mark Byron says that only Jennifer Aniston and “other rich elites can afford premium first class tickets along with the shower.”
Others would rather see an improvement in the economy class. Twitter user Tityana Naghwai “would love to see something about more leg room in economy.”
YouTube user 113Robinho mocked Jennifer Aniston and said: “I had a dream and I was…not rich. It was horrible.”
Twitter user Airwaysfoodie was not pleased at all and said: “am I the only one who thinks the Jennifer Aniston Emirates ad is a rather stupid and childish shot at competitors?”
Despite the backlash, Emirates’ Divisional SVP said: “We chose to take a humorous approach to showcase the amazing products we offer on board. We couldn’t think of anyone better suited for the role than Jennifer Aniston, and we wrote the script with her in mind.”
Despite the backlash, Jennifer Aniston is still laughing all the way to the bank. As previously reported, she’s reportedly being paid $5million for the campaign.
