Jennifer Aniston's Beauty Secrets Revealed
After years of banging on about only ever needing to use plain old Neutrogena Facial Cleansing Bars, Jennifer Aniston has now ‘fessed up to being partial to a peel!
The 43-year-old star came clean on US TV, admitting that she has to hide herself away for eight days after a laser peel while her old skin is shed like a snake’s and a new fresher complexion is revealed. Likening the recovery look to that of a “burn victim”, she described the experience as “intense” – we wonder how Justin Theroux likes that look...
Jen says the extreme treatment, also known as laser facial resurfacing, helps her get rid of pigmentation spots earned from years of enjoying the sun, and she claims that her skin feels “like a baby’s” afterwards.
As well as evening out pigmentation, laser resurfacing can target superficial wrinkles, tighten skin, improve the look of scars and even treat certain early skin cancers.
There are two main types of laser facial resurfacing – ablative and non-ablative, and the variety Jen favours is ablative. It destroys the surface layer of the skin (epidermis) to uncover the deeper layer (dermis) and heat it up to stimulate collagen growth. It takes about seven to 10 days for skin to heal, and two to six months for the redness to fade completely, plus skin may be swollen for a few days after treatment. Non-ablative laser treatments usually have no downtime, but the results are far less noticeable. And if you can’t afford to have either, there’s always Neutrogena Facial Cleansing Bars!
