As the weather finally cools down, what could be better than relaxing in the park on a balmy night and enjoying some fine jazz from international musicians?
This evening, Wednesday 25 September, a new series of free jazz concerts under the stars will begin in Doha’s Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) Park, presented by Jazz at Lincoln Center (JALC) Doha and the St Regis, in partnership with MIA.
This evening’s concert from 6.30pm to 8pm will feature the critically acclaimed New York-based Dominick Farinacci Quartet. Farinacci, a jazz trumpeter and composer, was personally invited by music legend Wynton Marsalis to headline JALC when it launched last year and has since returned to Qatar for three weeks of performances at the premier jazz club in September.
The concerts in the park will continue over the next three months with shows by young international artists who have already carved impressive reputations in the jazz world - trumpeter and band leader Etienne Charles (16 Oct), Maryland vibraphonist Warren Wolf (13 Nov) and Louisiana-bred band leader and all-round performer Jonathan Batiste (11 Dec). So, grab a blanket, grab your friends, and head down to the park...
