Jay-Z just got announced as the world’s richest rap artist on Forbes
Jay-Z is laughing all the way to the bank after topping Forbes magazine's annual Richest Rappers list.
Financial experts at the publication recently crowned the Empire State of Mind hitmaker hip-hop's first billionaire, thanks to his ownership of streaming service Tidal, music label Roc Nation, and stakes in alcohol brands Armand de Brignac and D'Usse, as well as his investment in car-sharing app Uber.
His vast fortune has helped him comfortably take the number one spot on the 2019 countdown, leaving Dr. Dre trailing in second with $800 million (£631 million), while Sean 'Diddy' Combs is at three with $740 million (£584 million).
At a distant fourth place is Kanye West with an estimated $240 million (£189 million), and Drake rounds out the top five at five with $150 million.
