Jambase Introduces New Live Acts
Don't expect the dance floor to look like this when Jambase's new acts hit the stage

Tucked away in the basement of the Souk Madinat Jumeirah, Jambase is one of Dubai’s favorite venues for live entertainment. To top off a night of music, the Latin American, southern European and South African flavours of the kitchen make it a perfect spot for drinks and dinner as well.

On Wednesday 14 March, Jambase will launch a new live music concept, with weekly performances from the Bull Funk Zoo band and Shero and Cassiano duo.

Assaad Lakkis, Bull Funk Zoo’s six-piece band founder and a Dubai local, has his roots firmly planted in rock but has collaborated with practically every conceivable genre, from jazz to hip-hop, soul to funk. He counts the likes of Frank Zappa and John Coltrane as major influences of his quirky, compositional style. His band has released two albums and have another in the making, tracks of which have been nominated for the Independent Music Awards in the US and have been featured on a soundtrack for the movie Papers. Bull Frank Zoo received excellent praise after opening for Sade at Abu Dhabi Yas Island, and they are currently gearing up to release their third album Polidicks.

Born in Brazil with music in his blood and rhythm in his soul, Cassiano began studying the keyboard and guitar from a young age. At the age of 15 he won at the FICO Festival which paved the way for him to play at the National Festival Oconcur in Sao Paulo. From 1991, he began collaborating with a number of artists including Cat Stevens, Chico Cezar, Carlos Malta and Totonho and has since graced the screens of MTV Brazil and MTV Arabia. After moving to Dubai, Cassiano began working on his debut album called The Return of Ziryab.

Shero, an award-winning singer/songwriter and multi instrumentalist, has not only has released an album with a full band behind him, but he is about to release a much anticipated solo album. He combines his unique and rhythmic unification of guitar or keys with beat-boxing and heavy hitting vocals. The future is most definitely looking bright for this duo!
