Is the world’s biggest Apple store set to open in Dubai?
Rumours and pictures have been circulating on social media since August, and now Apple has finally announced that is set to open stores on 29 October in Dubai's Mall of the Emirates and Yas Mall in Abu Dhabi.
Mall of the Emirates is currently expanding and adding 36,000 sqm of retail space, and their new Apple store will be included in the new retail line-up. Currently both under-construction Apple stores are covered with signs reading "marhaba" which means "hello". Both barricades are by Arabic calligrapher Samir Sayegh. Through this ancient art form and his contemporary and insightful work, we think it is the perfect way for Apple to say hello to UAE.
There has been no confirmation regarding the size of the stores, however sources tell 7DAYS newspaper that the Dubai store is expected to be the "world’s largest" Apple retail outlet. There has been no confirmation form Apple whether or not this is true.
The launch of the store is set to take place at 4pm in Mall of the Emirates and 7pm at Yas Mall. Apple fans who wish to be part of the UAE opening day activity can book their store services reservation on the Apple website by visiting apple.com/ae/retail/malloftheemirates and apple.com/ae/retail/yasmall.
