Prince Harry not only released a statement last week confirming his new relationship with Suits star Megan Markle, but he condemned the harassment and abuse that she has been receiving from the media. And now, it’s been revealed that the American actress has asked for time off from her hit show.
According to Page Six, the 34-year-old star has told her bosses that she needs time off from filming in Toronto because of “something important” she has to do. It’s rumoured that she is meeting with lawyers, after her new relationship with Prince Harry catapulted her into the spotlight.
Harry Hits Out
In a very unusual move for the royal family, 32-year-old Harry released a statement imploring the press to leave his new girlfriend alone, claiming she has been subjected to a “wave of abuse and harassment” ever since news of their relationship broke. The statement from Kensington Palace said: "It is not right that a few months into a relationship with him that Ms Markle should be subjected to such a storm. He knows commentators will say this is 'the price she has to pay' and that 'this is all part of the game'. He strongly disagrees. This is not a game - it is her life and his.”
He also claims that members of the press have attempted to get into Meghan’s home, her ex-boyfriend has been bribed and photographers have surrounded her mother’s home. Meghan herself has to now have security and police outside her house.
A Royal Romance
Harry met Meghan, who is best known for her role as Rachel Zane in legal drama Suits, in Toronto during the summer while he was promoting his Invictus Games. Since then they’ve been secretly seeing each other and she’s already said to have met Harry’s dad Prince Charles, as well as Prince William and K-Midd. Will the pair last long enough to warrant a meeting with the Queen?
