Inside Demi Moore's Divorce

As Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore prepare for their day in court, Hollywood braces itself for a messy divorce

After weeks of speculation, Demi finally announced last week that she was divorcing Ashton, two months after it was revealed he cheated on her with dancer Sara Leal on the weekend of their sixth wedding anniversary.

Ashton reportedly splashed out $100,000 on a eco-frendly Lexus car for Demi Moore just two days before her 49th birthday in a last-ditch effort to save their marriage, but it was too late.

During an earlier interview Ashton, 33, said that relationship problems could be solved if you made an effort. “I think it's all about working on the relationship and making it better… when it's good,” he said. “Don't wait for a problem to work on things.” Famous last words...

The couple are also said to have used Kabbalah counselling in a bid to save their marriage, but nothing has helped to mend the divide between them. Despite the sad end to their relationship, Ashton is putting on a brave face. Yesterday he tweeted, “I’m thankful for family, friends, you, & time to reach my potential. What are you thankful for?”

Judy Greer, who plays Ashton’s character’s ex-girlfriend admires in Two and a Half Men, says Ashton has been “super fun and happy” amid his marriage crisis. "He's great on set. He's great to everybody. He's kind of a breath of fresh air," she told E!, adding, "He doesn't talk about his personal life."

The divorce proceedings will deal with the couple's $290 million worth of shared assets, and with allegations of infidelity levelled at Ash, it's likely that he will suffer financially - but reports claim that Ashton's earns approximately $12 million a year compared to Demi's $5 million, so he can afford it.
