Injured Turtle Rescued at Palm Jumeirah

An injured turtle weighing 60kg has been rescued near Palm Jumeirah. According to a report in The National, “The turtle was spotted by residents who alerted security, and staff from Nakheel’s security and marine teams went to its aid. The turtle, which has a cracked shell, is now being treated at the Dubai Turtle Rehabilitation Centre.”

Brendan Jack, head of Environment and Sustainability at Nakheel added, “This one is one of the biggest I have ever seen. It must have been hit some way out to sea before being washed in to the waters of the Palm. We hope it makes a full recovery so it can be released back into the ocean and get back to its normal environment.”
