A mix of pieces picked up in the high street and items discovered while travelling have come together in the home belonging to this Pakistani couple on Palm Jumeirah.
Candlesticks from Crate & Barrel, an old-style travelling trunk from British designer Andrew Martin bought in DIFC and bowls from Marina are just some of the high-street finds. And, from overseas, the prize piece for Zara is an unusual modern kiln found in Istanbul’s Grand Bazaar. “I love collecting things from my travels because it keeps the memory of that trip alive,” says Zara. “When I saw this rug I knew it would go perfectly on our lounge floor.”
As passionate collectors of art from their home country, pictures and portraits from various artists are displayed on the walls. “Pakistani art is beginning to attract a lot of attention now,” says Zara.
