The Hurt Locker wins Best Picture
The war drama took home the biggies at the Oscars
You can count on gritty soldiers to beat blue aliens, and the woman to trump the man. This was proved as The Hurt Locker team walked away with the Best Picture award at the Oscars, shortly after Kathryn Bigelow picked up Best Director. Producers Kathryn Bigelow, Mark Boal, Nicolas Chartier and Greg Shapiro accepted the Best Picture Award, and said that the win was beyond their dreams. The Hurt Locker defeated nine other contenders including Avatar (directed by James Cameron, Bigelow’s ex-husband) and Inglourious Basterds for the Best Picture award. It also won awards for best screenplay, sound mixing, sound editing, and editing.
