Producers Kathryn Bigelow, Mark Boal, Nicolas Chartier and Greg Shapiro accepted the Best Picture Award, and said that the win was beyond their dreams. The Hurt Locker defeated nine other contenders including Avatar (directed by James Cameron, Bigelow’s ex-husband) and Inglourious Basterds for the Best Picture award. It also won awards for best screenplay, sound mixing, sound editing, and editing.
