Huge Fire Breaks Out in Ajman Building
A residential building in Ajman was set on fire on Monday night, forcing hundreds of people to flee the scene.
As the building continued to go up in flames, the civil defence team attempted to extinguish the blaze late in to the night. Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the interior minister, visited Ajman to help organise the response to the blaze. Fortunately, there were no major casualties however because of the incident, many residents will now have to be rehomed. "Victims of the blaze should be accomodated in Ajman hotels until suitable housing is found for them", says the ruler of Ajman.
Residents of towers were evacuated and the cause of the fire was not immediately known.
The Ajman Civil Defence tweeted that the fire was controlled and the cooling process was underway.
In some of those cases, experts said the speed at which the fires spread may have been due to the use of flammable cladding on the building's exteriors for decoration or insulation.
