We're taking to the water with rower Zera Maria Guedes

“I had always wanted to try rowing. However, I had been living in Dubai for about two-and-a-half years before I finally decided to take the plunge. I googled rowing on the net and found Monty’s Rowing School (montysrowingschool.com). From the moment I joined them for my first session on the water, I loved it. I began rowing once every week, then increased it to twice a week, and now, 18 months later, I row about four or five times a week. During my first session, the instructor explained the basics to me, and then as the weeks progressed, the team helped me improve my technique. I would always be rowing with people who were at the same level as me, so I never felt out of my depth.”

Why I Love It
“Rowing’s a fitness miracle. During my first session, I had very little stamina, but after just five lessons, I was amazed at how much I had improved. My endurance and fitness levels rocketed. I also love that it gives me time to relax and clear my head. When you’re focusing on technique, you can’t think about anything else.”

Why You’ll Love It
“Rowing is such a great way to get fit and increase your endurance. And instead of staring at four walls of a gym, with rowing outdoors you get to see a whole other side of Dubai. Rowing at sunset and watching the Dubai skyline turn red really takes some beating.”
