My Fitness Fix
“I grew up in Dubai and figure skated at Al Nasr Leisure Land. Then when I moved to Canada I had the chance to join a female ice hockey team and I loved it. Unfortunately when I moved back to Dubai there weren’t any female teams so I had to play with the guys who’d been playing pretty much since they could walk. But we’ve now got a team of female ice hockey addicts together and we play Wednesday mornings at 8:30 am at Dubai Mall. We are also looking to add weekend sessions.”

Why I Love it
“Nothing beats the camaraderie from a team sport. Plus ice hockey is a particularly exhilarating, fast-paced game which combines the need for multiple skills (such as skating and stick handling) and a high level of fitness and coordination.”

Why You’ll Love it
“It’s one of the most physically demanding sports with short, intense bursts followed by short recovery periods. Your quads and hamstrings get a screaming workout as does your heart. The speed and power of the shot comes from the upper body and a strong core so it’s a great total body workout.”  For details call 050 305 4502.
