Hot Footballers Flock to the UAE!
Ever wanted to be a WAG? Well, now is your chance! Almost a third of the UK’s top-flight footy clubs have descended on the UAE for training breaks in our sunny climate. The footballers appear to be training hard and partying even harder! We bumped into FA Cup hopefuls Brentford FC at The Westin Dubai's Senyar bar, and the players told Ahlan! that they were in Dubai on a relaxing golfing holiday ahead of their David versus Goliath tie with current cup holders Chelsea FC. The players appeared to be in good spirits, chatting away to other guests. They even invited us to take a tour of their luxe Jebel Ali hotel.
At the beginning of the week East London club West Ham United checked into footballers' fave Jumeirah Zabeel Saray (Rio Ferdinand, Jay Bothroyd and footy legend Maradona have all been previous guests). The Hammers are staying in Zabeel’s Royal Residence villas with their own private pools and hot tubs and have set up a training pitch adjacent to the hotel. They've also been spotted playing samba football shirtless on their private beach (This excited us slightly!). The players, along with manager Sam Allardyce, have been spotted dining in the hotel's Voi restaurant and partying at the Voda bar. Carlton Cole, we are coming to find you! Sam also gave footy fans an insight into his footballing life with a Q&A session at the Movenpick JBR’s West Beach Bistro.
Premiership strugglers Norwich City and Queens Park Rangers and their squad of hot players ( we're looking at you, Michael Turner and Rob Green) also touched down in the UAE this week. The Canaries, who are five points off the relegation zone, opted for the more relaxed setting of Abu Dhabi. They're hoping that the weather and top class facilities will give their players a boost in their fight for premier league survival. Manager Chris Hughton dished, "It has been difficult for us because Norfolk has been hit a bit heavier than most with the weather, when we have had quite a few days where we have struggled to get them on to the training pitch. We are looking forward to a good few days training on some decent surfaces." A good few days partying too by the looks of it! Rumour has it that players have already been spotted at Dubai’s Barasti and Rock Bottoms.
Queens Park Rangers have joined the North Eastern club Sunderland FC and have checked into the five-star Jebel Ali Golf Resort & Spa and are said to have been chilling out, fishing, boating and playing tennis. Not to mention partying in Dubai’s Marina’s lively hot spots!
Boys, watch out! Ahlan! are coming to find you!
