Hot 100 2011 - Najmeddin ‘Scorpion’ Al Hadad
This veritable tough guy was destined to be a fighter, despite being born relatively weak and undersized. When he was just six months old, his father adorned him in a Karate kimono, at two years of age he was filmed performing Kata, and at the grand old age of six, he began fighting in tournaments.
“When I went to school, I couldn’t understand why I was the weakest and smallest in class, so I practised Karate every day until I was fit and strong. It hurt so much when I got hit, but I never gave up. Then one day, it all came together. I gained the necessary strength, power and speed and today I fight with heavyweights.”
The Sharjah born Syrian-Turk now has a string of titles under his belt. Currently the 2010 champion in World Kickboxing, Najmeddin is one of the first professional fighters living in Dubai. He’s also a trainer and teaches martial arts ranging from Karate to Muay Thai. “I love to fight. I was born to do it. And now I’d like to extend my talents to modelling and acting!”
Behind the hard exterior is also a man who confesses he’s extremely romantic, writes poetry and loves animals. “I have lots of pets, some snakes, a scorpion, dogs, birds and even a wolf! I’d like to be remembered as a person who’s caring, loving and a dream catcher.”
