Hollywood’s Forgotten Romances
Kim Kardashian and Nick Lachey
Nick certainly likes his ladies curvy. In between divorcing voluptuous Jessica Simpson and marrying curvy TV presenter Vanessa Minnillo, he dated newlywed Kim Kardashian who is renowned for her ample behind. The pair are thought to have started dating six months after his divorce to Jess was finalised, back in 2006 when Kim was simply known as a star stylist. Contrary to their highly publicised lives now, Kim and Nick worked hard to keep their relationship under wraps. A source, “The pair held hands as they exited the theatre, but separated when photographers started snapping. They’re sweet on each other. It’s the beginning stages of a relationship.”
Tom Cruise and Sofia Vergara
Tom certainly loves a good wedding. While he has been married three times – Mimi Rogers (1987-1990) Nicole Kidman (1999-2001), and Katie Holmes (2006-present) – he almost had a fourth marriage with Sofia. It’s said that Tom rebounded with Katie after splitting from the sultry Modern Family’s star. Andrew Morton, who wrote Tom Cruise: An Unauthorised Biography, claims that the Night and Day actor was in love with Sofia, believing her to be the perfect wife.
Brad Pitt and Christina Applegate
Judging by his eclectic exes from Sinitta to Juliette Lewis, Brad Pitt doesn’t seem to have a type. Christina explains about their relationship, “We were really good friends when I was about 16, for a few years. We were just part of this group of people that hung out and we decided to sort of cross the friend line.... We kinda looked at each other and went, ‘Hmmm, kinda cute, didn’t really know that.’ The couple dated for a year until Christina shockingly dumped the handsome star at the 1989 MTV Movie Awards. The actress admits she ditched him for another hot guy at the event, “We went to the MTV Awards and I ditched him! I left him there and I felt really bad about it, I really, really do. I left with somebody else.”
Ashton Kutcher and January Jones
As former models, January and Ashton made a super-hot looking couple yet appearances aside their romance turned sour when the actor failed to support his girlfriend’s dreams, telling January she shouldn’t quit modeling because she will never make it as an actress. The Mad Men star said, “He was not supportive of my acting. He was like, I don’t think you’re going to be good at this. So, f*** you! He only has nice things to say now – if anything, I should thank him. Because the minute you tell me I can’t do something, that’s when I’m most motivated.”
Sarah Jessica Parker and Robert Downey Jr
They were the young celeb IT couple after falling in love while on set of Firstborn. They dated for seven years from 1984 to 1991. While they seemed like a dream couple Robert was battling serious addiction issues with Sarah insisting, “I believed I was the person holding him together.” They eventually went their separate ways with SJP struggling to cope with Rob’s hardcore partying ways. The actor said of the relationship, “I was so selfish,” he admits. “I liked to drink, and I had a drug problem, and that didn’t jibe with Sarah Jessica, because it is the furthest thing from what she is. She provided me a home and understanding. She tried to help.”
Mel B and Eddie Murphy
This relationship had a devastating effect on Eddie’s career. The odd couple started dating in June 2006, just two months after his divorce to the mum-of-five of his seven kids Nicole Mitchell, and Mel quickly fell pregnant. Five months into her pregnancy she was dumped by the Shrek actor! The actor was criticised for ditching the former Spice Girl and was almost disowned by the showbiz industry when he continued to berate Mel on live TV, openly accusing her of having an affair insisting the child wasn’t his. Two months after the baby, Angel, was born a DNA test proved he was the father! The pair are said to only just settled their disputes with Eddie, finally deciding to spend more time with Angel.
Ryan Gosling and Sandra Bullock
Sandra fell for Ryan in 2001 during the filming of Murder By Numbers, despite the 16 years age gap – she was 38, he was 22! Sandra’s pal Hugh Grant made fun of their relationship, often referring to Ryan as ‘the child.’ He once said, “I’d do the sound of a baby crying and she’d know who I meant.” The couple split after a year blaming the pressures of a long distance relationship – he is based in LA, while Sandra resides in Texas.
Matt Damon and Winona Ryder
The couple met in 1997 at a showbiz New Year’s Party after being introduced by Gwyneth Paltrow, who was dating Ben Affleck, Matt’s best mate, at the time. They were the ultimate Hollywood foursome, until Winona and Matt split in 2000. The split came as a surprise as the couple had enjoyed a Caribbean holiday together just days before they went their separate ways, it’s rumoured Matt was having an affair with his All The Pretty Horse co-star Penelope Cruz. The Spanish actress said at the time, “We’ve become very close.”
