It’s official men make women fat. According to studies released earlier this year, women who live with a man are likely to pack on more pounds than their single counterparts because they tend to adopt their partner’s eating habits and start eating ‘man-size’ portions. Coupled with all those cosy nights in, in front of the TV with a takeaway, and domestic bliss can soon transform you into a couch potato.

“When I first got engaged, I gained weight,” admitted Christina Aguilera recently. “We call it the ‘love chub’. When you’re happy and you’re cosy just chillin’ in bed together on a day off, what do you want to do? Cosy up with cosy foods. For me, it’s a baked potato and a steak.” The good news is being loved-up with your man doesn’t have to be a one-way ticket to love handle city – not if you find fun and interesting ways to work-out together. While he’s filming Friends With Benefits in New York, and she’s been busy promoting the A-Team, Jessica and Justin have barely had time to see each other recently, much less work-out. So when the pair found a break in their schedules earlier this month with some downtime in New York, they multi-tasked by combining their quality time with a calorie-zapping 10 kilometre cycle around Central Park.

And fitness fanatic Jess – who recently climbed Mount Kilimanjaro – also loves jogging and hiking with her man. “I’m a big advocate of recreational sports and stuff,” says Jess. “If someone can get out there, even if it’s a hike or something like that, just to break up the monotony of going to the gym... I really like that.”

Who said yoga was just for girls? With super-ripped Zac Efron signing up for yoga sessions with girlfriend Vanessa, your man’s got no excuse not to join you on the mat for the downward facing dog.

“She’s into yoga and all the girly ways you can work out,” says Zac. “She’s getting me into that stuff.”

Hiking
Fergie works out six days a week for up to two hours at a time, so if she’s going to squeeze in any time with her hubby, he’d better be prepared to get his kicks on. Luckily Josh is more than happy to join his wife on her gruelling hour-long hikes up around the Hollywood Hills.

“Working out is really the top thing in my life that I do for my own self-esteem and self-worth,” says Fergie. “When I’m exercising, I get really proud of myself because I know I’m doing everything in my power to be healthy.”
