Here Comes the Metro Walkway to The Dubai Mall
You'll head along, Metro-style, to The Dubai Mall using the walkway

Hurrah! The bridge from Burj Khalifa metro station to The Dubai
Mall is finally open and that means it got a lot easier for us to head down there and shop! Shoppers can now get to the mall, the world’s largest,
without having to walk outside, courtesy the 820-metre temperature-controlled footbridge.

On Wednesday (26 December), His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime
Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, toured the walkway built by Emaar, in association with the Roads and Transport Authority, at a cost
of Dhs120 million.

The new bridge, which has been under construction for
months, will see more than 13,500 people per hour transported to and from the
mall via five travelators inside. The travelators can transport people at a
speedy half-a-metre per second. Previously shoppers faced a 15 minute walk or a shuttle bus
journey to get from the metro station to The Dubai Mall.

Exits along the bridge will also allow access to other
parts of Downtown. Further connections to Emaar Square,
Boulevard Plaza and Emaar Boulevard are also in the pipeline, it has been
reported.
