Not only is Hema huge here in the UAE, she also showed her collection at London Fashion Week earlier this year. Hema's new collection includes feminine pieces made from soft yet luxe fabrics including silk and lace in spring pastels tones. The is a reflection of Hema’s love for all things vintage. There are limited pieces so don't miss out!

Ahlan! chatted to Hema on fashion and life a few weeks ago, and here's a reminder of what she had to say:

What was the inspiration for your S/S14 collection?

I was inspired by the 1960s. Babydoll dresses, cropped tops and Peter Pan collars are key to the collection.

What’s been the highlight of your career so far?

Being able to be present my collection at London Fashion Week earlier this year.

You also showed your collection at Fashion Forward in Dubai, what do you think of the event?

Fashion Forward is the only structured format for fashion in Dubai, so it's definitely going to help upcoming and established designers be able to make a mark in UAE market. People here love fashion and the idea of Fashion Forward is to take UAE fashion to the next level. It's very well organised and has complete international standards and appeal.

Do you think it will change the UAE’s fashion industry?

Of course, Fashion Forward here will change the industry I'm sure.

Can you tell us any backstage gossip from London Fashion Week?

Everyone is super organised with what they need to do. Whether it’s the hair and make-up people or the team that helps to create the set for the show. Everyone is very helpful when you are a new designer. Even the models are amazing. It's perfect there!

What are your favourite trends for this season?

Sheer, lace, cropped tops and pastel colors.

If not fashion, what would have been your alternative career?

I’ve already begun an alternative career: perfumery. I've been doing this alongside my designing for over 10 years. It's a great creative field and I love working in both industries.

What’s your favourite fashion era?

The sixties. It was the era of change in fashion.

Who is your style icon?

Sarah Jessica Parker – she is always so red carpet ready.

Which celebrity’s style do you love?

Obviously Sarah Jessica Parker and also Mila Kunis .

Are there any celebrities you'd love to dress?

I’d love to dress any celebrities.

A lot of fashion brands have been launching make-up ranges recently, is this something you would ever consider?

Why not? Definitely in the future, but for now I want to concentrate on women's wear.

What one item should every woman have in their wardrobe?

A little black dress.
