It was a huge relief to open Cities design and lifestyle store in Dubai and receive such a great reception. We are taking part in Design Days Dubai in 2015 and were chosen as event stylists for the inaugural edition of the Harper’s Bazaar Interiors Design Awards of 2014. On a personal level it was hugely gratifying to be included in Esquire magazine’s list of UAE Men to Watch in 2015.
No matter how much preparation and work you put into a new opening, it’s still a gamble of sorts. I knew that this concept was right for Dubai. We’d been successful in Riyadh and wanted to replicate it across the Middle East.
One person cannot do it alone. You have to delegate and have a team that you can trust and depend upon. You should never ask your team to do something that you would not be willing to do yourself.
My hobby is photography. I always take a camera with me hoping I can get a few shots of whatever is unfolding around me that day.
We are already considering opening a second location in Dubai. We want to focus on providing regional designers and artists with a larger platform to showcase their talent through store installations, exhibitions and publications. We’re also hard at work on a bigger location for our Riyadh store, due to open in 2015. Finally, we are working hard to get our Cities magazine off the ground as well.
I usually read the news online to keep up with what’s going on locally and globally.
Posts about unusual design concepts.
Images and articles on interiors, architecture and all things design-related. They tell me what’s going on in the world of design.
Amazing art; some humorous, some inspiring, diverse and in huge quantities.
