Halle Berry Gets Restraining Order
Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry has been granted a three-year restraining order against a man accused of stalking her at her Hollywood home.
Richard Franco was taken into custody after allegedly showing up at her estate three times in as many days last month (July 2011). He denied a charge of felony stalking but prosecutors slapped on another allegation of residential burglary, to which he has also pleaded not guilty.
Berry obtained a temporary restraining order against Franco following the terrifying incident and, on Monday (1 August 2011), a Los Angeles judge awarded her a more long-term protective order, banning the overzealous fan from going within 100 yards of the X-Men actress and her three-year-old daughter, Nahla, until 2014.
Franco is due back in court on Thursday (4 August) to answer the two charges. If convicted, he faces up to three years behind bars for felony stalking, while the burglary charge carries a six-year sentence.
