Gywneth Paltrow's Not-So-Eco After All

25 Apr 2012

Demanding a 10-second chauffeur drive hasn't done Gywneth Paltrow's eco-warrier image any favours

She might talk the talk, but it seems Gywneth Paltrow can’t walk the walk. The actress was out to celebrate the launch of Paul McCartney’s latest music video at her bestie Stella McCartney’s Hollywood boutique and instead of walking four doors down to the restaurant hosting the after-party, Gwyn insisted on being chauffeur-driven the .06 mile distance!

“It’s a short walk,” a source dished to the New York Post. “Gwyneth [and] husband Chris Martin left the party in a gas-guzzling town car, were chauffeured just a few feet and got out at the restaurant that was pretty much next door to the party.”

Gwyneth recently blogged about the need for environmental consciousness on her lifestyle website Goop, but apparently it was all just lip service. She wrote: “Going green is no longer just the ideology of left-wing hippies. Nor is it a trend... We are confronted with the challenge of sustaining our food, our water and our environment. We are changing things.”

We hate to break it to you, Gwynnie, but wasting fuel like that doesn’t just fail to help the environment, it also doesn’t do your eco-warrior credibility any favours either!

The car journey to the Madeo restaurant took just 10 seconds. If her heels had been strappy skyscrapers, rather than sensible kitten boots, perhaps we’d be more sympathetic, but there was no excuse – particularly when Aussie model Miranda Kerr and her husband Orlando Bloom, and even 74-year-old Jane Fonda, were happy to make the short trip on foot.
