Gwyneth Paltrow’s Stand Up To Cancer Telethon Raises Over $109million
Gwyneth Paltrow's star studded charity event, Stand Up To Cancer has raised a record breaking $109million (Dhs 400million), which will be donating towards the improvement of research to fight the disease.
The 41 year old actress undertook the role of show producer, enlisting the help of some of her Hollywood friends to help raise a whopping amount, including Halle Berry, Will Ferrell, Mike Myers, Jessica Alba and Reese Witherspoon, who all appealed to the public for donations as well as taking it in turns to interact with fans via social media.
Taking place in California's Dolby Theatre, the telethon was broadcasted across the US and Canada on Friday featuring numerous comical sketches, as well as performances by The Who, Jennifer Hudson and pop newcomer Ariana Grande.
Last week's event managed to raise over $28million more than the same telethonon 2012 for the charity, credited to Gwyneth's hard work to make the event a success.
Since its launch in 2008, Stand up to Cancer has raised more than $369millon and hopes to increase this total in the upcoming years.
