Gwen Stefani's Album Debuts at Number One
New romance, new music and now, a new achievement!
There really is no stopping Gwen Stefani. The singer has bounced back drastically since her split from husband Gavin Rossdale in August last year. She has now scored her first number one album as a solo artist on America's Billboard 200 chart.
The No Doubt star's first solo project in 10 years, This Is What the Truth Feels Like, shifted the equivalent of 84,000 units to debut at the top of the new countdown.
Her last solo album, The Sweet Escape, was released in 2006. The new record follows Gwen's split from husband Gavin Rossdale, and documents her marriage breakdown, as well as her new relationship with fellow The Voice U.S. coach Blake Shelton, who she started dating in October last year.
"I will admit that (Make Me Like You) is about (Blake)," she told U.S. late night host Jimmy Kimmel last month.
"What's so crazy is that sometimes tragedy, if you really absorb it, you can turn it into something beautiful," she continued. "And this whole album is really about trying to take something awful and healing from it and turn it into something beautiful."
Meanwhile, The Voice champion Jordan Smith comes in at number two with Something Beautiful, while Rihanna's Anti slips two spots to number three. Adele's 25 and Justin Bieber's Purpose round out the top five, respectively.
