Guy Ritchie helped design the engagement ring he gave Jacqui Ainsley. The Sherlock Holmes director worked with designer Neil Lane to create the perfect piece of jewellery to propose to his pregnant partner - with who he also has 13-month-old son Rafael - as he wanted something ''cool and romantic''.
Neil said: ''He was very involved in the whole process, very interested in each detail of the ring, he's a director!"
''Guy wanted something cool, a little vintage and romantic and we closely collaborated on designing something very special.''
Guy initially visited Neil in Los Angeles to brainstorm ideas before exchanging several emails and text messages before settling on the five-carat, old European-cut diamond ring set in platinum.
Neil added to People: ''It's filled with details. It has an Edwardian feel. Guy's British and the Edwardian period started in England in the early 1900s and was when pure white, tiny diamonds first came into fashion. This ring has over a hundred tiny diamonds that sparkle around a centre stone.''
The filmmaker - who also has sons Rocco, 12, and seven-year-old David with ex-wife Madonna - was delighted with the finished piece of jewellery - and Jacqui was equally delighted when he presented it to her.
Neil said: ''Jacqui loved it! Those two are so happy, totally in love and excited for the baby and their future.''
