If you go down to the St Regis Doha this Saturday 11 January, don’t be surprised to see Gordon Ramsay swanning around in the lobby or chatting with guests over canapés.
The celeb chef is in Qatar to host two dinners at his St Regis restaurants, both of which were sold out almost as soon as word got around town.
Ramsay has created a five course ‘Prestige Menu’ dinner for guests at his signature Gordon Ramsay Doha restaurant, which costs QR1,250 for dinner only, and QR1,890 with a sommelier's selection of accompanying vino. The event begins with welcome drinks and canapés in the Conservatory bar.
Ramsay devotees with thinner wallets have opted for a cocktail reception and three course set menu created by Ramsay for his more casual St Regis restaurant, Opal by Gordon Ramsay. The restaurant will hold two seatings to accommodate diners, at QR550 per person or QR790 with sommelier's selection.
It’s believed to be one of Ramsay’s first official engagements since returning from holiday with wife Tana and celebrity pals David and Victoria Beckham. The Irish Mirror reported this week that the Beckhams had extended their Christmas break with their four children because of England’s horrible winter weather and that the Ramsays, who also have four kids, had gone out to join them at an undisclosed location somewhere in Asia. The families, who are old friends, holidayed together at Napa Valley in California the year before.
