Glastonbury Reacts to Kanye West Headlining
Kanye lacks Glasto cred

News that Kanye West is to headline the UK’s Glastonbury festival on Saturday 27 June caused an uproar, and I must admit I won’t be front-row that night. Festival fan Neil Lonsdale even set up a petition, saying: “Kanye West is an insult to music fans all over the world. We spend hundreds of pounds to attend Glasto and by doing so, expect a certain level of entertainment. Kanye is an egotistical maniacal disgrace.” The petition’s had more than 80,000 signatures, but as The Charlatans’ frontman, Tim Burgess, points out: “If being cocky, opinionated and a bit crackers was enough to get you turfed off the line-up at Glastonbury, it’d be pretty empty backstage.”
