When it comes to experimenting with different hair looks, few are more adventurous than Kim Kardashian.
The reality star recently ditched her platinum blonde tresses for a candyfloss pink colour, mixing up her look once again. And while Kim is by no means the first to try out pink hair, she did keep it edgy by having a thick line of brunette roots shining through. Keen to follow in Kim’s ever-so-stylish footsteps? We spoke to some of the U.K.’s top hair experts for their recommendations on recreating this look.
“Pink hair is set to make a huge comeback and has been seen on many of the SS18 runways, including Alexander Wang,” Leah Durrant, Owner and Director of Leah Durrant Hair Salon and Beauty Re:Treat, told us. “Pink hair is great for blondes as it’s easy to get in and out of the hair, is low maintenance and creates different tones when it fades. If you’re not feeling daring enough to go full on pink, this shade also looks great with balayage, ombre or as a few scattered highlights to give your hair a subtle pink hue.”
However, Karen Brown, Owner of Hair by JFK, warned that going pink can be a tougher process if you’re a natural brunette.
“Visiting a reputable colour salon is key, as a dark base will need to be lightened prior to the pink dye being applied,” she explained. “In order to provide the least amount of damage to the hair, we always recommend Fibreplex to clients, which significantly reduces hair breakage during the lightening, high lifting or colouring process.”
Karen added that she would recommend using “colour saving shampoos and conditioners or shampoos and conditioners that are free from sulphates that can strip hair colour” to maintain the look for longer.
