Time to dust off that telescope in the attic! Construction on a national observatory high in the UAE mountains is set to begin within the next year.
The planned observatory will be the perfect place for people to use telescopes to examine the stars above or observe meteor showers.
Currently three mountaintop sites are being considered for the location of the observatory, including Jain Mountain in Ras Al Khaimah which stands 1930 metres above sea level.
The UAE is said to be a prime spot for astronomy lovers to get their kicks, thanks to a climate that gives good access to dark skies, instead of countries with more clouds and changeable weather.
