Sometimes it’s nice to get out from under the bright lights (and smog) of the big city and see the stars. Why not head to Al Wakra’s Souq Waqif to break your fast? Only twenty minutes from the centre of Doha, the souq is set to be the new cultural hub of Qatar. The best thing about Al Wakrah’s Souq Waqif (‘waqif’ means standing in Arabic) is that it’s along the corniche. Restaurants line the water and you can eat outside (if you can stand the humidity), watching the waves lap the shore and looking up at the stars. There’s a host of restaurants and cafés for you to choose from, including Arabic coffee shops and Indian curry houses and – of course, ice cream shops. After your iftar or suhour, you can walk it off along the 3km long corniche. The best thing about this lovely evening out? Plenty of free parking!
