Geri's flying the new fashion flag

It was definitely ladies’ night at the Brit Awards last night, with Lady GaGa taking three gongs, Lily Allen picking up her first ever Brit Award (wearing a ginger wig?!) and Cheryl blowing the star-studded crowd out of their chairs with an awesome live performance (sans wedding ring!). But the most deserving recipient of the night has got to be Geri Halliwell who, along with her fellow Spice Girls, scooped Best Brits Performance of the last 30 years for their 1997 performance of Who Do You Think You Are?. And the stand-out memory from their stonking set? Geri’s Union Jack dress, of course!

The dress that’s been copied by trillions of wannabes, impersonators and drag queens. The dress that’s become the emblem of Girl Power and an iconic relic of pop history. So which fashion maverick was behind the ‘It’ dress? Westwood? Williamson? Or the late, great McQueen? Nope style-watchers, it was in fact made by Geri’s sister from an old Union Jack tea towel. Makes you wish you’d paid more attention in Home Economics, huh?
