George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin Attend Wedding in Italy
It seems George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin can’t escape the wedding gossip – except this one wasn’t even theirs! The couple attended the wedding of Amal’s reported cousin Tarek Miknas on 10 July in Italy – an event which Amal herself officiated!
The bride-to-be was with her fiancé George Clooney at Villa Mangiacane, a 15th century villa hotel and spa originally built by the Machiavelli family in the small town of San Casciano in Chianti, a region in central Tuscany.
According to People, the 36-year-old human rights lawyer officiated the wedding between cousin Tarek Miknas, a businessman based in Bahrain, and the stepdaughter of Darina Pavlova, a Bulgarian tycoon and heiress.
The couple has been reportedly spending some quality time at the Gravity actor’s Italian villa in Lake Como – the same villa where the Italian scenes of Ocean’s 12 were filmed and where George’s co-star actor John Krasinski married Emily Blunt in 2010.
While the newly-engaged couple is in Italy, new laws enacted to protect the couple from paparazzi have made it illegal for anyone to stop at the road by his villa or by the water directly in front of the estate. The laws will remain in place until 30 September, with the couple expected to wed sometime in the fall.
But, there is no saying where this much-anticipated wedding will take place – while Amal is originally Lebanese but living in London where she works as a barrister at Doughty Street Chambers, George spends his year between his L.A. home in California and his Italian lake-side estate.
