Free WiFi on the Dubai Metro

As part of the Wifi UAE initiative, Dubai Metro users will now able to enjoy free Wifi while travelling. This has done in order to contribute to the Smart UAE initiative.

The initiative offers free, but limited, internet access; and also unrestricted access against a charge.

According to a report in Emirates 24/7, the network is named ‘Wifi UAE’, and users will have to enter their mobile phone number, and select either ‘WiFi UAE’ or ‘WiFi UAE Premium’.

The next step is to complete the registration form and once that has been completed, a pin code will be sent via SMS.

The report stated that for the premium service, users have to pay Dhs20 and they will be able to get six hours of connectivity that can be used for over three days. For Dhs50, users can get 20 hours of connectivity that can be used over seven days.

The restricted access offers users the option to surf the web, check emails and use social media apps.
