Free ID cards for Filipino workers coming soon

Filipinos in Dubai, we have some good news for you!

Now, you don't have to worry about exit clearances, as the Philippine Department of Labour and Employment (Dole) Secretary Silvestre Bello III, has announced that Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) travelling to their workplaces abroad from the Phillipines by the end of July, will be issued a special identification card free of cost, repots Gulf News.

Called the OFW ID, the card will officially launch by mid-July and will eventually serve as a universal ID for all OFW's government transactions, including social security and health.

Dole Undersecretary Ciriaco Lagunzad III also pointed out that the presence of this ID serves as evidence that the worker has been processed by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), which means the worker is legally abroad.

The new OFW ID system is still undergoing tests, and details of the application process will be announced soon.
