Flights to Mumbai from the UAE have been delayed indefinitely
Flights from UAE to Mumbai have been delayed indefinitely after a plane overshot the runway at Mumbai International Airport.
Mumbai is dealing with its heaviest rainfall since 2005 and it only seems to be getting worse. The death toll has already exceeded 35 people in the last couple of days.
In all the rain, a SpiceJet aircraft flying in from Jaipur messed up and missed its mark on the runway on Monday.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.
Air India officials confirm. The operation to extricate SpiceJet flight stuck off Runway 27 of Mumbai airport will begin only after that. MORE DETAILS TO EMERGE. pic.twitter.com/m3d2WveogL— Vithesh (@VitheshNaik) July 2, 2019
The main runway at India’s commercial capital has been closed since then, causing major delays in the flights coming in from all over the world. Around 54 flights have been diverted from Mumbai airport to other airports so far.
Passengers intending to fly out to Mumbai from the UAE should also be on high alert and should keep checking their flight times to be aware of any delays. We also advise people going to Mumbai to be wary of the situation there and stay safe!
