Fittest Man and Woman Crowned in Dubai!

Training partners and couple Frederik Aegidius of Denmark and Annie Thorisdottir from Iceland have won Dhs200,000 each after winning their categories at the Second Dubai Fitness Championships.

Entering the final day of the men’s competition, former American football player Aegidius beat a group of four Americans to take victory with 898 points in the strength and conditioning program, CrossFit.

Thorisdottir, once crowned the 'Fittest Woman in the World', won the women’s section after overtaking leader Lindsey Valenzuela on the final day, ending the competition with a huge 935 points.

The best UAE competitor in the men’s section was Mahmoud Shalan in 11th place, followed by Khalifa Al Qubaisi in 14th, Rashid Al Mulla in 18th and Marwan Al Marri in 23rd.

36 top athletes muscled it out for three days at the Al Wasl Club and Dubai Mall, held under the patronage of Shaikh Majid Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority,

The annual championship is aimed at raising fitness awareness levels in the region.
