Ramada Hotel was one of the first hotels to open in Dubai in 1983 and it is now set to close down at the end of August.
The Ramada Hotel was the first four-star hotel in the city when there was only desert surrounding the area. Staff, visitors and local residents say it’s a piece of Dubai’s history and will be a sad time once it’s demolished at the end of summer.
“It was the first four-star hotel in the area when there was nothing but desert in Bur Dubai. You can renovate it but it will only go for another seven or eight more years” said Senol Sarisen, the Ramada Bur Dubai’s General Manaer. “It doesn’t fit anymore. It’s part of the old city, but the old city is changing.”
The 185 hotel staff who have been there for 33 years will be moved to the companies other properties.
