Filipino Food Programme to Sweep Qatar
Wilfredo Santos, the Philippine Ambassador to Qatar, has launched Kulinarya Qatar which is a special and exciting initiative to promote Filipino food among Qatari residents.
By partnering with hotels, there will be Filipino night buffet, launch of Kulinarya magazine, culinary competitions and even a campaign for the creation of a new Filipino dish with a touch of Arabic flavours for those budding chefs. Also the Filipino Community Family Day will take place at the Qatar Sports Club from 23 to 26 Sep.
“Kulinarya Qatar is a movement aimed at promoting our rich cooking traditions and at the same time enticing more tourists to visit the Philippines. It is an integral part of the Philippine Embassy’s economic diplomacy programme and supports the Visit the Philippines 2015 programme of the Philippine Department of Tourism,” Santos stated.
The organisers will collaborate with chefs in the Philippines for trainings on best kitchen practices and preparation and presentation of Filipino dishes as well as promotion of Filipino cooking traditions through partnership with the Philippine Department of Tourism and well-known Filipino cooking brands.
“Kulinarya Qatar is here to stay. Together, let us join hands in this journey to make the Philippines a leading culinary, tourist and business destination in Asia and in the world,” the ambassador added.
